Visa Requirements
The Costa Rican immigration department designates four different groups of international countries that have different visa requirements for their citizens to enter, visit, and stay in Costa Rica.

First and second group
They can enter Costa Rica without a visa with a tourist permit of up to 90 days.
Valid passport. Return ticket.

Third group
They must apply for a visa in advance at a Costa Rican consulate. The visa duration is 30 to 90 days.
Documentation authenticated by a lawyer. Subject to migration evaluation. Application addressed to the Restricted Visa Advisory Commission.

Fourth group
They must apply for a restricted visa, which is only granted in exceptional cases. The application fee is $52 non-refundable every 6 months.
Application form. Valid passport with at least 6 months of validity. Copy of all passport pages, certified and translated into Spanish. Request letter addressed to the Costa Rican Consulate. Additional documentation according to each case.
